About the Artist

It all started when I was about 5, I remember my teacher telling me how daintily I would color in the lines of my coloring books. As I grew older and we had art specific classes in school - I found that excelled in just about anything we did and I LOVED it!

When I was about 11, my mom found me a private instructor who helped me to further my drawing skills. At the time I had my own art desk with tons of colored pencils. Colored pencils took up a good chunk of my younger years as I strived to perfect shading. o.o

Me Painting!Unfortunately around this time my art instructor and I had a falling out where I just found her to be too restricting in techniques. To me, art has always been about projecting your soul in any form onto whatever your drawing/painting on. The soul is not perfect, and therefore your art can never be perfect. What's important is that it's perfect in the eye of the beholder - sort of like beauty, ya know?

At the time, I was very sensitive about my art though, it was like wearing my heart on my sleeve. So, unfortunately, I just stopped any form of art for years. I didn't start up again until I was about 16. I started drawing video game characters and getting as much detail in as I could. This artistic period in my life was soon squandered by an idiot boyfriend. We got into a fight, and he proceeded to rip up all of my drawings that I had at his place. This was another lethal blow to my artistic psyche and it's amazing that I ever found the strength to come out and give it a try again.

Thankfully, I did! At about 20, I found the urge coming back to create. But I wanted to try something different. I got a set of water-color pencils and made tons of Anime style drawings with it before finding the confidence to move onto to actual water color paint. I loved the vibrant colors in water color and used them for quite awhile with my anime drawings. Probably a couple years passed before I got yet another itch for something new.

The big plunge was when I decided to try out oil paints. I got some books, found online tutorials, and before I knew it - I was painting with oil! this was also when I got into landscapes, as it's easiest to learn oil on, for me at least it was. I found I did very well with woodsy landscapes, and fall themes.

My sister-in-law who is a super art gallery guru introduced me to acrylic paint when I was complaining about how long oils take to dry. She suggested using it and next thing I knew I went out and got me some acrylic paint..and I loved it. It took some getting used to, but it was nice to be able to use water instead of paint thinner to water down the paints. hehe.

Most of my artwork - however simple it may seem - has a lot of emotion in it. I always try to not just make it look realistic - but to make it a mirror of myself. I want to be able to see myself in the painting, and I want there to be a steady technique and feel to all of my works - no matter how unrelated they may be.
